Kowloon Walled City is a town in China which was demolished in 1992.
It ‘was shown and seen as one of the most overcrowded cities in the world. For example, the buildings, which could not be higher than fourteen floors, are so close together that the whole area could be pierced through the roofs of apartment buildings.
Specific structures were built to unite the whole area. The sun rarely came in, so homeowners needed to keep the lights on, even at midday due to the total absence of light.
The calculated presence is 50,000 people in 300 buildings adjacent to one another. The palaces have small streets, roads no wider than two meters, completely obscured by the sun, moist and bright all day.
